The Montana Area Agencies on Aging Association has been provided an opportunity by the Adult Protective Services Division within DPHHS to measure whether older Montanans impacted by opioid or other substance abuse are successfully connected to resources through referrals.
This project is a collaboration between the state, Purdue University and University of Illinois to identify whether individuals who come into contact with Adult Protective Services are provided with the appropriate referrals and ultimately, if the appropriate resources exist to combat the crisis we are facing.
Currently, M4A is working to identify the trends within Montana by interviewing providers across the criminal justice, medical, and nonprofit service fields, and interviewing individuals who have been impacted through their own abuse or through the addiction of their loved ones.
